Kate Thaisz’s passion for working with the elderly began when she helped care for her grandfather, who had Alzheimer’s disease. Her family’s experience made her decide to focus her education and career on helping others through the often complex and difficult situations that arise when caring for a loved one.
Through her 20+ year career, Kate has gained knowledge and expertise by working in various positions like Geriatric Care Manager, Director of an Adult Day Center, Support Group Facilitator, Benefit Application Assistant, and Director of Performance Improvement, within various organizations like the Alzheimer’s Association, an elder law firm, a continuum of care community, and a social service agency in Connecticut.
These experiences have provided Kate with knowledge and experience to navigate the many state and federal benefit programs available, as well as home and safety assessment and modification.
Kate holds a master’s degree in Human Development and Gerontology from the University of Saint Joseph, and is a Certified Care Manager (CMC) with the National Academy of Certified Care Managers.

This is literally the first time I've ever posted on this page but I wanted to give a shoutout to Kate Thaisz at Compassionate Choice, LLC. If you have aging parents and loved ones and need help making a plan, setting up care arrangements, trouble shooting elder care doctors attorneys anything really you can't do better than Kate. She likes to tell folks that she treats her clients as if they were her own family and she means it. You cannot find a better geriatric care manager. Truly, she cares and is a fantastic advocate for you and your loved ones.

Our family first worked with Kate at her previous company, where she gave us invaluable assistance in managing our father’s care as he dealt with advancing Parkinson’s disease and dementia. Kate was available to help at every stage of the process, even when plans to care for our father at home changed abruptly and completely with a sudden deterioration in his condition, which necessitated an emergency hospitalization, finding a nursing home within a week, and beginning a Medicaid application. Kate was tireless in ensuring our father’s needs were met. She also provided us with an upfront estimate of the cost of services, and was scrupulous in keeping us updated with the time she was putting in assisting us. After our father’s passing, we turned to Kate again to assist us with planning for a different scenario, as our mother is now on her own and plans to age in place in her home. We feel confident that we will be able to provide the best support and assistance to our mother with her help. Kate has a clear commitment and dedication to help families get through these difficult transitions with the best outcome possible for everyone. We cannot recommend her services highly enough.
